About Us
The Monkey Dancer story began in 2019, when I moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to teach. I fell in love with Cambodia and so did my mother Joanne, when she came to visit. Once both of us were back in the US (and in lockdown) we couldn’t stop thinking about Cambodia; its people; and all the beautiful clothing, accessories, and art objects we had seen in the markets. The idea to import some of those goods was born. We wanted to do it ethically, and we’re proud to work with suppliers in Cambodia who treat their workers fairly. I hope you love our products as much as we do!

Our Name
Our name comes from the Cambodian Apsara dance. In this traditional dance form, one of the primary roles is the monkey. We were utterly charmed by the movements of the dancers in this role, who leap and play (and even scratch) like little monkeys.
